This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: May to August
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

This is a game-changer; a prolifically flowering Salvia with soft, lilac-pink blooms from May to August and deeply cut, scented foliage. Reblooming in the autumn, Feathers Flamingo looks superb paired with Nepeta ‘Walkers Low’ and Allium ‘Purple Sensation’.

  • Garden care: When planting Feathers Flamingo incorporate some well-rotted garden compost or manure and some mycorrhizal fungi into the planting hole. To prolong flowering remove the flower spikes as soon as they start to fade. Apply a generous 5-7cm mulch of organic matter around the base of the plant in spring.
