Rudbeckia hirta 'Enchanted Glow' (PBR)
coneflower
This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
- Position: Full sun
- Soil: Moist, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: Average to fast
- Flowering period: July to October
- Hardiness: Frost tender (will need winter protection)
- Garden care: Pot up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed when they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed. Pinching out the growing tips will encourage them to become bushier, and feed with a high potash fertiliser at regular intervals throughout the summer. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.
A neat, semi-doubled coneflower with canary-yellow ray florets surrounding a bright golden ring of stamens encircling a prominent ‘pincushion’ brown eye. Busy with bees and butterflies, ‘Enchanted Glow' will be loved by all nectar-seeking insects. Originally from the prairies of North America, this Rudbeckia is best grown as a magnificent half-hardy annual - pop these in pots on your patio for a striking late summer display!
