This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

'Beaujolais' is a full-bodied, double-flowered, semi-evergreen perennial with a satisfying blend of mauve to purple blooms with a feint white highlight around the petal margins. Held on firm stems above a rosette of oval-shaped green leaves, this delicately fragranced primula graces pots, containers and border edges with a fine early season display.
Plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established. Divide large clumps in late spring or early summer after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
