This compact, graceful fern is a top choice for its reliable year-round appeal as a houseplant. Though slower growing than typical Boston ferns, its uniform habit delivers cascades of deep green fronds that thrive with basic care. Tolerant of indoor light levels besides deep shade, 'Montana' stays lush when kept away from draughts and misted occasionally to boost humidity. As one of the best air-purifying plants, this easy going houseplant trails beautifully from hanging containers whilst filtering and freshening the air.

We’re proud to support our British growers, and having been raised by one of our trusted UK nurseries, this indoor plant has a low carbon footprint, which makes it perfect for an eco-friendly collection or gift.

Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

  • Home care:
Keep the compost moist (but not waterlogged) at all times, but this can be cut back a little in winter, and place in a bright spot away from direct sunlight. These ferns love a humid atmosphere, so mist the leaves regularly with water and/or place the pot on pebbles in a tray filled with water. Maintain temperatures above 10°C in winter and avoid summer temperatures above 25°C. Repot in spring when the plant becomes root-bound.
