  • Position: full sun or part shade
  • Soil: humus-rich, moisture retentive soil
  • Rate of growth: fast
  • Flowering Period: July to August

‘Grapefruit’ is an upright, herbaceous, perennial with deeply veined foliage and lilac flower spires in mid to late summer. Grown mainly as a culinary herb, as the name suggests, this mint has a sharp zingy citrus taste and is perfect for flavouring jellies, sauces and adding to a variety of foods and drinks for garnish or taste.

  • Garden care: When plants have finished flowering in summer, cut flowered shoots back to 5cm (2in) above the surface of the compost. Mint is vigorous in the garden so so restrict excessive growth by by planting it in a large pot and keeping it well watered.
  • Pets: TOXIC if eaten
