'Magic Lantern' is a vigorous clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with showy terminal racemes of pea-like flowers and palm-shaped, mid-green leaves. Dense spikes of dark purple and yellow blooms appear from June to July. - Garden care: Stake with bamboo canes or other natural supports in spring before the flowers appear and deadhead the faded blooms to encourage a second flush of flowers. Protect young plants from slug and snail damage, and against hard frosts by covering the crown of the plant with organic mulch.
