This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

This perennial beauty boasts dark-veined blue flowers, standing proudly on slender stems amidst narrow grass-like leaves. Iris sibirica is a rhizomatous herbaceous plant that graces early summer with its delicate violet-blue blooms, veined with purple on a pristine white base. These plants are potted up (using a suitable aquatic compost) into aquatic pots. These pots are made of a fine mesh, which allows water to circulate through the compost, providing the plants with both oxygen and nutrients. If you are using them as a aquatic plant, they can be placed straight into the pond up to 10cm (4") deep. To enhance flowering divide congested clumps every three to five years.
