This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Depth of water: 0-10cm (0-4")
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: May and June
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Elegant white flowers are produced in May and June above slender, strap-shaped leaves. This stately, beardless, Siberian iris is a relatively tall variety, so it's important to stake the branched flower spikes of 'Snow Queen' with bamboo canes in early spring, well before the flowers appear. A luminous variety that should be planted in in boggy to pond marginal conditions for best effect.

  • Garden care:
These plants are potted up (using a suitable aquatic compost) into aquatic pots. These pots are made of a fine mesh, which allows water to circulate through the compost, providing the plants with both oxygen and nutrients. Best placed at the edges of ponds or reliably boggy ground rather than submerged or waterlogged soils. To enhance flowering, divide congested clumps every three to five years.
    • Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten
