A bromeliad boasting evergreen, glossy, lance-shaped leaves reaching up to 30cm (12in) in length. During summer, a tall stem emerges from the rosette's centre, showcasing a striking flame-like inflorescence adorned with vibrant red bracts sporting cream coloured tips. This impressive floral display endures for months, but marks the end of the parent rosette's life. However, it often gives rise to new offset plants around the original cluster during this phase. Thriving in partial low-light conditions, ‘Choice’ is a gem that requires only modest maintenance once settled.

Guzmania prefers a warm, indirectly lit and humid environment with a reliable temperature above 15°C (59°F), avoiding draughts. The plant feeds and absorbs moisture through its foliage, so maintain humidity by misting the leaves regularly throughout the summer. Most importantly, don't overwater - let the soil dry out between watering, maintaining any central cup with about a quarter full of distilled or rainwater if possible.
