This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moderately fertile, moist but well–drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: July to August
  • Hardiness: half hardy (will need winter protection)

Named after 'Christopher Lloyd', a charismatic gardener who loved experimenting with vibrant colour combinations in his garden at Great Dixter. This Gazania is certainly that - a pinkish-purple, daisy like flower and golden yellow centre with shiny green lanceolate leaves. Best suited to punchy displays in pots and containers.

Garden care:
Pot up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed or patio pot. Pinching out the growing tips will encourage them to become bushier, and feed with a high-potash fertiliser at regular intervals throughout the summer.
