Erodium reichardii 'Album'
heron's bill
This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
- Position: full sun
- Soil: gritty, humus-rich, sharply-drained, neutral to alkaline soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: June to September
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Forming a mound of attractively scalloped, dark green foliage, this low-growing groundcover also produces rounded white flowers, which are laced with magenta-red veins. It makes an attractive addition to an alpine or rock garden, and can also be used to add summer colour to a sunny patio or border edge. - Garden care: Avoid waterlogged conditions (particularly in winter), and divide congested colonies in spring.
