Rising gracefully from tufted clumps of rich green foliage, Carex grayi is a distinctive perennial, ornamental grass that adds long-lasting interest to the garden. Reliable in wet or very moist, ‘boggy’ fertile soils, this acorus can be planted in aquatic baskets (to reduce root disturbance) in shallow water up to 5cm. Divide congested clumps in early spring every few years. Wearing gloves, comb through old or damaged foliage in late winter to tidy if necessary.
