  • An award-winning (RHS) beauty, Begonia soli-mutata is an evergreen, creeping, rhizomatous perennial sought after for its intriguing heart-shaped, dark green leaves adorned with lime-green radiating veins and scarlet edges. Running your fingers over their upper surface, you'll notice tiny hairs and raised lumps, as if the plant had goosebumps, adding an intriguing texture to the foliage. Aptly named 'sun-changing,' this begonia reflects its leaf's remarkable ability to transform in varying light conditions—the leaves grow darker with brighter light. As an added delight, small white flowers grace the plant periodically throughout the year, completing the enchanting allure of this exceptional houseplant.

We’re proud to support our British growers, and having been raised by one of our trusted UK nurseries, this indoor plant has a low carbon footprint, which makes it perfect for an eco-friendly collection or gift.

  • Home care:
Rex begonias require special care during the summer months. It's best to keep them in shaded areas and provide ample watering, ensuring proper drainage and maintaining a humid atmosphere around the plants. Avoid wetting the leaves or the crown.

As winter approaches, reduce the frequency of watering. Allow the compost surface to dry out before watering again. These begonias thrive with a minimum winter temperature of 13°C (55°F) across all varieties.

For optimal growth, feed them every two weeks from May to September using a high nitrogen fertiliser.
  • Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
