  • Native to Vietnam, this unusual houseplant exhibits unique foliage adorned with long hairs, and when grown in low light conditions, a delicate blue tint can develop. Begonia sizemoreae forms a clump of dark-green rounded leaves featuring a pale green band. The surface of the leaves is deeply crinkled, and they bear very long, scattered, white hairs, while the undersides boast a striking dark red hue. The leaves and stems are intriguingly ridged and covered in incredible 2cm+ hairs, making them a delight to touch, especially when young. Small, white-blushed pink flowers appear throughout the year.

We’re proud to support our British growers, and having been raised by one of our trusted UK nurseries, this indoor plant has a low carbon footprint, which makes it perfect for an eco-friendly collection or gift.

  • Home care:
Rex begonias require special care during the summer months. It's best to keep them in shaded areas and provide ample watering, ensuring proper drainage and maintaining a humid atmosphere around the plants. Avoid wetting the leaves or the crown.

As winter approaches, reduce the frequency of watering. Allow the compost surface to dry out before watering again. These begonias thrive with a minimum winter temperature of 13°C (55°F) across all varieties.

For optimal growth, feed them every two weeks from May to September using a high nitrogen fertiliser.
  • Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
