Deeply cut foliage foliage forms a loose mound, which in spring is crowned with petal-packed flowers, each with a distinctive blue eye. An easy to grow shade-lover, it's perfect for borders, pots or woodland settings where it will kick the growing season off with a splash of colour. - Garden care: Plant the rhizomes horizontally 5-8cm (2-3in) deep in September or October to form naturalistic drifts.
