Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet'

Product Image
Rosettes of silver, greyish white leaves provide an attractive, weed suppressing carpet for much of the year.

Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet' rarely flowers and is an excellent, drought-tolerant groundcover or edging plant for a well-drained site in full sun. The foliage is a more intense shade of silver than flowering species and cultivars of the plant.

How to care for Stachys byzantina Silver Carpet:

Ensure good drainage when planting as the plant can die back in heavy, poorly-drained soil. Give it space to spread out.

Cut any rare flowering stems back to ground level in autumn and apply a generous mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant.

Divide large clumps in early spring. Once established it’s reasonably drought tolerant, so will be happy in a dry, sunny site, or gravel garden.
