Not only hardy, 'Dakota Burgundy' is also remarkably frost tolerant. Beautiful crimson-bronze foliage matures to dark green on this compact and dwarf perennial setting the stage for the prolific lavender-pink 'foxglove-like' trumpets that smother the plant from midsummer. Avoid waterlogged conditions over winter and look forward year-on-year to predictable penstemon perfection!

How to care for Penstemon digitalis Dakota Burgundy ('Tnpendb') (PBR) (Dakota Series):

Plant 'Dakota Burgundy' with a handful of well-rotted compost or manure in the planting hole. Remove the faded blooms regularly to prolong flowering. Cut back and compost the spent flower stems in autumn and apply a dry mulch around the crown of the plant to protect against frost damage.
