The flowers of this deciduous grass have a light, open habit, which creates a gossamer haze above the foliage. Therefore, it's ideal for weaving through a mixed or herbaceous border, where the purple, feathery spikelets will create gentle movement as they catch every breeze. A native of moorland, it will flourish on most soils as long as they are not too dry, and its interest lasts well into winter.
