Ilex crenata 'Jenny' (PBR)

Ilex crenata

Product Image
This compact, evergreen shrub features small, glossy, dark green leaves and is perfect for topiary or low-maintenance hedging. With its dense growth and fine foliage, it provides an excellent alternative to traditional boxwood, ideal for formal borders or intricate shapes. Ilex crenata 'Jenny' thrives in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil and performs well in both sun and partial shade. Hardy and tolerant of urban environments and pots, provided it does not dry out, it requires minimal care, needing only occasional clipping to maintain its neat, structured appearance, making it a versatile choice for year-round greenery in the garden.

How to care for Ilex crenata Jenny (PBR):

Plants grown as free-standing specimens require minimal pruning - remove diseased or misplaced branches in spring. Trim plants grown as formal hedges in late summer. After pruning apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant.
