Native to South Africa, this bushy perennial is a great option for rockeries and pots where its 2.5cm (1in) sky-blue daisy-like flowers with yellow centres can be best appreciated. Blooming over a long season from summer through autumn, Felicia amelloides is drought and wind-resistant once established and provides an abundance of nectar for pollinating insects.
Commonly grown as an impressive and spreading seasonal plant in cottage and Mediterranean gardens, or as colourful edging for paths and borders, this kingfisher daisy requires good drainage and will need frost protection during the winter.
Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

How to care for Felicia amelloides:
The kingfisher daisy prefers well-drained soil conditions that do not become overly wet during the summer. Deadhead to encourage further flowering.
Overwintered plants must be protected during severe and prolonged cold by the use of plant protection fleece, and a thick 2" layer of insulating mulch around the rootzone of the plant to protect the roots from frost. Alternatively, remove and place under glass in a frost-free, brightly lit location.
