This large, vase-shaped shrub lights up autumn with brilliant ruby red foliage, its oval leaves turning a fiery hue before dropping. For double the impact, its greenish flowers give way to eye-catching fruit; the lobed seed capsules emerge a dusky pink colour, splitting open to reveal vivid orange arils inside that persist into winter, extending seasonal interest.
