A tropical, clump-forming evergreen grass with strongly lemon-scented, erect to arching pale blue-green leaves used in Southeast Asian cooking. Loosely branched pinkish flowers dangle in airy sprays from late summer.
How to care for Cymbopogon citratus:
Keep the plants in a frost-free environment in winter where temperatures do not dip below 8°C - a conservatory or heated greenhouse would be ideal. It can be moved to the patio and watered freely during the summer months, and to harvest, simply cut or twist off a stalk that is at least 0.5cm in diameter.
