This densely-branched deciduous shrub is primarily grown for its pearl-like berries, which form in clusters on the stems of more mature plants in autumn. These often put on a long-lasting display, usually hanging onto the bare stems (which can be cut for the vase) long after the last leaf has been shed. An easy and undemanding shrub, it is ideal for adding late interest to the mixed border.
