A marginal aquatic perennial with glossy mid-green foliage which gradually spreads on plump, shiny stems, creating an enchanting foil for the water's edge. In late spring, simple white arum-like flowers grace the scene, transitioning into vivid red berries in autumn. Thriving in shallow water, Calla palustris is a versatile gem, flourishing even in shaded areas areas though its flowering will be reduced. Prefers neutral to acidic soils. Deer resistant.
How to care for Calla palustris:
Reliable in wet or very moist, ‘boggy’ fertile soils that are neutral to acidic in nature, this arum lily can be planted in aquatic baskets (to reduce root disturbance) in shallow water up to 25cm (10"). Cut back after flowering.
