Originating in North America, this handsome marginal aquatic plant can also be grown in reliably boggy areas in the garden. Anemopsis (or apache beads) forms a clump of broad green leaves, and in summer produces relatively large white flowers, which occasionally have a flash of pink.
How to care for Anemopsis californica:
Plant out in reliably moist soil, or pot up into a pond basket and place at the margins of a pond. Protect from cold, drying winds. A low maintenance plant, remove dead leaves and spent flowers as necessary. Divide congested clumps in early spring every few years.
