Carefully selected for its simple, understated beauty, ‘Joshua’ is an elegant Christmas rose. White saucer shaped blooms, sometimes pink-flushed with a lime green centre, dark green foliage and potted in a charming terracotta pot. We guarantee this Yuletide floral treat will be delivered in bud or flower.
Place on a windowsill in a cool room to be appreciated over the festive period, then gradually condition the hellebore to cooler temperatures and plant into a partially shaded border where it should flower the following year from mid-winter to early spring.
Garden care: Add lots of well-rotted leaf mould or organic matter to the planting hole. Cut the old leaves back down to the ground in January or February as this will show off the new emerging flowers to best effect. It will also help to get rid of foliar diseases such as Hellebore leaf spot. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the base of the plant in autumn and provide a top-dressing of general fertiliser each spring.
