Divide bearded irises, selecting young portions of the rhizome about 8-15cm (4-6in) with a fan of leaves. Trim foliage to 15cm (6in), shorten the roots and replant just below soil surface

Capsid bug damage causes holes and distortion of the new shoots and flower of plants such as Caryopteris, Dahlia, Fuchsia, Hydrangea and Brugmansia. Affected shoots may fail to produce flowers.

 
3.

Harvest first and second early potatoes. Handle gently to avoid bruising. Let tuber to dry off for few hours before storing.

 
4.

Continue tying in of new stems of climbing and rambling roses.

 
5.

Watch out for cabbage caterpillar damage, check plants grown under protective mesh or fleece.
