One of the real treats of the veg garden in late summer, the sweet yellow kernels of this reliable sweetcorn have a very high sugar content and a fine, rich flavour that will have your mouth watering. Plant in blocks rather than rows to ensure pollination so that the 20cm long cobs fill right to the tip with kernels. Have a saucepan already on the boil before you pick your sweetcorn to keep the time between picking and eating to a minimum, preserving the flavour at its sweetest.

  • Growing Instructions: Early sowings can be made into modules under cover: grow on seedlings until the last threat of frost has passed before hardening off and planting out. Later in the season sow direct where they are to grow in a grid pattern, leaving 45cm between plants. Cobs are ready when the tassels have turned brown.

  • Sow: April-May

  • Harvest: August-October

  • Approximate quantity: 50 seeds.
