Double tulips are noted for their large, long-lasting, peony-like flowers. This collection contains both early and late flowering cultivars, so could provide colour for several weeks from mid-April.

In each collection you will receive the following:

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Blue Diamond': Despite the name, the flower colour is more purple than blue, but they also have a subtle silvery lustre. The larger than average size of the fully double blooms will also pack a pretty impressive punch when woven through the border or used in pots. A good mixer, it goes well with most pinks and purples as well as deep plum. Grows to 40cm.

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Finola': This is an exquisite tulip (the photo doesn't really do it justice), which appears late in the season. Each of the petals is a subtle blend of creamy white and shades of pink, with just a hint of green. They form large, long-lasting flowers that mix with virtually any shade you could think of. Grows to 40cm.

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Mondial' (PBR): Peony-like flowers, which are made up of lots of lightly feathered pure white petals, top the stems of this double early tulip. The flowers have a light scent too, so plant them in a border near a seating area or path - or pot them up for the patio. Grows to 35cm.

  • Garden care: From August to November plant the bulbs 10-15cm deep and 10-15cm apart in a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil. While actively growing, keep them moderately well watered and remove the flowers after they have faded. At that stage a balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied each week for 4 weeks before they die down.
    • Humans: Harmful if eaten; skin allergen; Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
